Pinewood Derby

This past Saturday was the PineWood Derby for Travi's cub scout pack. This is a huge event with almost 100 boys participating this year. Each year Trav and Travi try to come up with something a little different then the rest of the boys. Most boys do your standard race car, but seeing as how Travi isn't really in to cars we go for something a little unique. This year his theme was "I Rule Pinewood Derby". So Travi trimmed his block of wood and I transformed it into a ruler. His dad spends the most time setting the weights and making sure the wheels are fast.

So we headed to the race with high hopes that he would be a top finisher. Last year he finished 5th in his division, which hurt a little because they take the top for on to the finals. Each boy races their car 8 times in hopes to qualify to move on to the overall finals. Well, this year guess where he placed...5th. He missed it again by literally .05 on the scores.

He had a great time and Trav loves watching the boys race. I enjoy myself as well and Taylor, she gets through it with only moderate complaining.

Next year is our last year for Pinewood Derby. Travi has one more year of Cub Scouts before he can move on to Boy Scouts if he so chooses. So, next year we will try for top 4 again!!
