What a day we had! Trav wore his Wheaties costume again this year to the AirSta. costume contest since no one at the unit had seen it. He took first place this year! Travi was really happy with how much he looked like a C.I.A. Secret Spy Agent and Taylor of course was feeling very "Princess Like". As you can tell, I went as the Republican VP Candidate Sarah Palin. We all went to a Halloween Party tonight at some new friends house and I think I heard every kind of Campaign joke and question about Alaska they could hit me with. It was a great time and the kids left with a bucket full of candy. Now we are hoping the kids come off their sugar high and go to bed so we can have a little quiet time.

Today before the big Trick or Treat, Taylor and I made the boys some yummy Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. They turned out really great. We also made up a batch of Egg Free Cupcakes to take to a party tonight.

Pumpkin Carving

Happy Halloween Everyone!


So we were finally able to sit down and carve those pumpkins with the kids. Travi of course wanted to carve a weird, scary face and Taylor was going for the Snow White pumpkin. Trav and I did our best to please. I don't think Taylor remembers carving them last year. She was so excited at how "beautiful" the pumpkins looked. Now tomorrow Taylor and I have a bowl of pumpkin seeds to roast for our enjoyment.


Leave it to Travi to enjoy the grossness of cleaning pumpkins. We were even lucky enough to get a few disgusting bodily noises as he played with the mush.



Taylor on the other hand did not enjoy touching the insides as much. We found her a latex glove to keep her from getting dirty.

Something came in the Mail

Today the kids received a box in the mail from our very good friend Sam. We met Sam while living in Kodiak, her and her family transferred to Iowa this summer. The kids just love her and she was one of the only people in Kodiak we trusted enough to leave the kids with. In all our time up there she and her family became part of our family. Today both kids recieved blankets in their favorite colors from her. They are thrilled. The first thing they said upon opening the box was, that everything inside smelled just like her. They miss her a ton and we love the blankets almost as much as we love her. Thank you so much Sam!!!

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch yesturday. It was a gorgeous fall day! We didn't get the opportunity to do this in Alaska so the kids were pretty impressed with getting pumpkins from somewhere besides the grocery store.

Trav towed the lucky winners to the car via the wagon!

Taylor on the other hand was going for something cute and pretty. She choose this one because it had some freckles on it.

Travi's game plan was to pick the biggest, heaviest pumpkin in the field. He did a pretty good job and couldn't lift his big one into the wagon.

Fall has arrived

So for the last few weeks we have been enjoying the changing of the season up here in the New England area.  It is even more beautiful then I thought it would be.  Along with the changing of the leaves, the colder weather has arrived as well.  We are digging out all of our Alaskan gear and bundling up once again.   These pictures were taken at the lake by our house.

So following in the footsteps of my Sister In Law, I have decided to start a blog of our family to keep people updated on our day to day lives on the East Coast.  So here goes...
