After the holidays at the end of last year I decided to take a brief hiatus from my blog. Life was crazy and I needed a break from a few things. Now that big changes are coming its time to start things up again.
So to briefly catch up with the last 6 months of our lives, lets see...
-I graduated school!
-Taylor turned 7!
-We got orders to Sikta, Alaska!
-Trav graduated school in March!
Now here we are the second week of May and life is crazy. Our movers will be here in a week to pack up the house and ship our goods to Alaska. We are leaving the Cape for good on the 25th. We honestly do intend to come back here again by choice. We love so many things about the New England area but the Cape specifically has not been our favorite unit or temporary home. I know we will look back fondly on these last 4 years though. The kids grew by leaps and bounds. We love their school and teachers very much. Trav completed two Boston Marathons and his bachelors degree. I completed my degree as well. We have traveled to every state around here that we could. We LOVE Maine, N.H. and Vermont as well as Upstate New York. We met some wonderful people here. Its been a good tour.
Our hearts have always been somewhere else though. We have yearned to return to the West. We have talked about the day we would return to the other coast since we got here. Now, we are days away from saying goodbye to this chapter of our long story. It feels good and exciting but also bittersweet. We are closing the door so to speak on a pivotal time in our lives. Great changes happened to all of us on a personal level out here on the Cape.
We now look towards the next 4 years back in Alaska. We have high hopes this tour will be wonderful. We have high hopes that we are setting ourselves up for retirement from this nomadic life too. We have our boat, we have each other and we have our sense of adventure. I know that all those things will see us through. I am excited and giddy with anticipating.
So for now, my little blog on our lives will be a travel blog as we make another 6000 mile trek back in the direction that we last came from.
Home....to the "Last Frontier"!!!
