Something so small...

We were lucky enough to get a bit of snow today. Nothing that would amount to any accumulation but it was beautiful. It was the kind of quiet snow that makes your ears want to listen, just so they can hear nothing. It was a peaceful, gorgeous snow that if you weren't looking you could really miss it. There is no evidence of snow on the ground. The only way you could really appreciate this kind of snow is to look very carefully and you would see it.

Sometimes its the "small" things in life that really need your attention...just so you can really notice them.

PineWood Derby 2010

So today was the PineWood Derby! This year when Trav asked what Travi wanted his racing car to look like he settled on a rocket powered school bus. We sort of laughed but went with it and Travi got to work. Today on race day I had some serious doubts as to how the Den 2 Rocket Bus was going to do but to my surprise Travi won most of his heats. He scored 4th place out of 28 racers. Trav was beaming with pride and Travi was just so glad to be winning races. It was a successful day and we got so many compliments on his unique design. Most boys choose to go with a "Race Car" look when making derby cars, but not our guy. The boy scouts came down to judge all the cars in several different categories and we will find out at next months Pack meeting if Travi's car will win anything for originality!

Frozen Pond

We took the kids down to Snake Pond last night to walk around on the frozen top. Travi has been asking me for weeks to go down there. I was extremely nervous but Trav insisted it would be fine. We have seen several people ice fishing so I knew it would hold his weight but I am still a worry wart. Taylor didn't last to long as it was extremely cold and windy and the dogs lasted only a bit longer then that. Travi loved it and I am pretty sure Trav drug him off the ice.

Star of the Week!!!

I am a little late posting this, but last week Taylor was "Star of the Week" in her PreK class. This was something that coincided with it being the week of her birthday as well, so needless to say last Monday was a big day for her. She made a photo collage to share with her friends at school for the week. We also made a big fruit tray for her to take to her class. Being Star of the Week definitely comes with benefits that go beyond a photo collage. All last week she was the "Line Leader" and the "Flag Holder" during the Pledge of Allegiance. We closed out the week by bring Cooper and McKinley to school on Friday so that Taylor could share her two favorite dogs with all her friends and teachers. Taylor of course was glowing with pride, all the while the dogs were completely terrified and probably shivered about 2 pounds of their bodies from fear. All in all, last week was great...Especially for a 5 year old!

Another year means...My baby turns 5!

Five years ago tonight at 11:30 pm I was in labor and by 5:44am our baby girl had arrived. She has been the light of my life. She lifts me up and her sweet voice, endearing compassion and gorgeous little face remind me that life for us in complete. We have it all. She turns 5 this year and as Trav and I have tried to figure out where the years have gone we are at a loss. We reflected on pictures today that seem like just yesterday but yet they are from YEARS past now.

Tonight Taylor is on a dinner date with her Daddy. This has been an ongoing tradition since she turned 1 year old. They share their birthdays on January 11th and so they share a special night out, alone, just the two of them. She loves it so much. Today she picked out not only her outfit, but Trav's as well...right down to the beanie and jacket he was allowed to wear. She informed me that there would be lots of holding hands, kissing and snuggling at the restaurant and that she would not be bringing any food back for me. She is such a little stinker!!!

So Happy Birthday to my little girl, I love you!






Now, on to my husband. His gift this year...an iphone, was a bit of a splurge but he deserved it. He has had so many things going on this past year that he deserved a little something different this year. We are usually not into that mainstream techno type of things but he is already in love that thing so there is no going back. I love that man to pieces and hope that as one year has passed and we walk into another he feels loved and happy.

December in Review...

Well as most know, we went to California to spend the holidays with our families. It was a great trip and we had so much fun. It always feels so good to hug a loved one and see faces you haven't got to see in so long. We left the East Coast in the mist of an epic snow storm. We arrived to CA with nothing but shine sun and warm days. It was a great break from the downfalls of Cape Cod. As always, we were ready to come home to our own beds, but left tears a streaming as we said goodbye yet again to all those we love and hold very dear. Living apart has its advantages at times but goodbyes don't get easier. What a great Christmas Holiday and New Years we had. Thank you to everyone for a great time and even better memories. We waited out the snowstorm in Providence Airport....finally leaving only a few hours later!


We saw Mountain Sheep on our way from Vegas to Ridgecrest. It was awesome to see them in the wild and up close. Very Exciting!


We visited Dad's trains with the other McGregor Clan. The kids had a great time!





Christmas was great for all of us. The kids were well taken care of by Santa and all the family. It was nice to be surrounded by so many people instead of it being just the four of us again.

We camped along the Kern River for New Years. It was so nice to be up in the mountains and enjoy the company of so many wonderful people.

Had some great hiking up there too!




We took the kids up to Shirley Meadows on New Years Day for some tubing. Travi loved it and Taylor finally tried it once just as we were leaving.

RJ turned 9!!


We ended our trip back in Vegas...except this time Mom and Dad took the kids with them so that Trav and I could have a few hours of time on the Strip. We won about $200.00 between the two of us. It was a great time.
