Birthday Party...

15 January 2011

So today was the culmination of a weeks worth of celebrating. Something I have learned this week is that we don't just celebrate a birthDAY for Taylor in this house. We celebrate for at least a full week. I told my mom a few days back that I was ready for Taylor's week long "celebration of life" to be over. All week long she has reminded all of us several times a day that it was her birthday. This apparently, in her mind, gave her a free pass from being a contributing member of our household.

So today we had a party for her. The last phase in her week long celebration. She was meticulous about the details of this party which left me following strict guidelines. I was ready for the party to go smoothly so that her demands would be met. I have been battling a cold the last few days and woke up with full blown Laryngitis this morning. Nice...

She wanted an Arts and Craft themed party...done! She wanted a double layered, heart shaped cake with 3 colors of frosting...done! She wanted snacks and ginger ale...done! She wanted balloons for all her friends and two left over for herself...done. She wanted absolutely no boys to be within 50 feet of her domain...done, sortof!

Each girl decorated their own tote bag with all kinds of crafty goodies. Taylor received lots of nice gifts and the boys were almost no where to be seen. I don't even think she noticed when they came up from the basement for basic necessities such as food and water. She did however want them here to sing her "Happy Birthday". I know she had a great time because she was all smiles. Her little face was beaming. She played with her friends and when it was all said and done, my baby girl whispered in my ear..."I did good and was the best ever!"

So today and this week was a success. I am glad she got the week long celebration she wanted. I am also glad her brother isn't quite so demanding with his birthday's and always just wants to go camping instead.

Here is Taylor tonight getting ready for bed. She got a new Monkey tent from her Gammie and Poka that she intends to sleep in until school starts on Tuesday!
