Preschool

14 September 2009

Well my baby girl is officially a preschooler. Today was her first day of school and it was successful. Now that does not mean it did not take some serious persuasion to actually get her to go. She spent most of Saturday and Sunday telling me she changed her mind and was not going. By last night she asked me to call the school and have them take down her "Cubby Spot".

When I asked her why she didn't want to go she told me it was because, she loved me so much and was going to miss me (with tears pouring out of her eyes no less). Now to be honest I loved every second of hearing that and I thought about just calling the whole thing off so she could just say with me, but....Trav steered me on the right path and after I promised to stay there with her she agreed.

After spending 15 minutes with her in class Trav and I told her we needed to potty the dogs, who were of course in the car because she wanted them to go with her to school. She said OK and we made a mad dash for the door. Two hours and 15 minutes later we returned to find her smiling and playing on the playground. She had a great time and has graciously agreed to go again tomorrow.

As I put Taylor to bed tonight she said to me, "Mom...I'm ready to take the bus, I don't need you to drive me anymore." I explained to her that I was her school bus and I would be taking her every day and picking her up. She proceeded to cry!

This is another one of those days were I have mixed emotions. This will be the first time in over 7 years that I will have a couple hours to myself each day. I have looked forward to this day for a while. On the other hand, my babies are growing up and heading off to school. I actually think I would give up those few hours a day to keep the clock from turning.
