Upcoming Weekend...

30 January 2009

Well nothing exciting to report so I thought I would fill everyone in on our busy weekend.

Tomorrow, Travis is taking the Tiger Scouts to the AirStation for a tour. I think the boys will have a great time seeing the helicopters and Falcon jets that are at this unit. Funny thing, we needed information from each parent that planned to attend for them to be able to get onto base. Every dad that replied voiced their excitement and also wanted to know if they could bring some friends along. I guess boys and their toys never really do grow up.

Tomorrow evening Travis will be saying goodbye to a friend here at the unit who is being Medically Discharged. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and today is actually his last day. Saturday evening they have planned a big "Going Away" party for him before he leaves for is new life outside of the Coast Guard. Thankfully, a ceremony was held for him this week along the lines of what a person gets upon retirement. Steve is such a wonderful person and we wish him the best. He plans to return to school using his GI Bill and looks forward to living closer to his two children. I could go on and on about the importance of Stem Cell Research right now but I am not going to get on my Soap Box today.

Lastly, SuperBowl Sunday!!! Travis decided to host a little party here at the house for him and I am hoping no more then 10 people. Somehow he always extends a warm invitation to people and then comes home and says, "You can pull this off, right honey." So I am praying these boys stay relatively sober, tame and that they have a great time in the process. I should have seen this coming when he renamed the basement his "Man Room."

So that's about it! Nothing overly exciting for the ladies of this household, but we don't need much. We love all of you and take care.
